Surreal

Scene 1
Darkness in my ears. Oh please no pain, no pain. The darkness grows and silence falls. I open my eyes. Can they see? Do they know? I feel vibrations yes I feel them but I cannot hear them. The darkness is nearly complete. I hear them. What is that hiss? The darkness has not completely closed me off. Strange to see and feel but the noise the awful whine is gone. There is no pain. But how long will this last?

Scene 2

Not fog but a creeping slow paralyzation. Warmth emanating from my heart, glowing fire through my arms; not fire, not burning, no pain. Just a slow comforting warmth. I am becoming ET! My heart is glowing ... oh wow man.

Hope and Progress

Well "We the People" swore in another President today. I wish him well and God's watch. His idealism and energy is contagious and America caught it too. I do have concerns and here they are.

1. I think President Obama will have an easy time for the next 100 days but I hope he and the Democratic leadership do not have a head on collision. I believe that he will want to do things they will not and the old Democratic leadership will dig in their heels and President Obama will not be able to accomplish what America is expecting.

2. I hope President Obama is not a lackey, a lapdog, yes man that bends to the will of the Democratic leadership. If this happens it will be worst than my first fear.

3. The Republicans will act the fools and be obstructionists and the Party will look worse than ever.

Whatever happens he is 'The Man' for the next fours years and is facing some really tough issues.
We need to continue our prayers and ask God to watch over and inspire our leaders.

Dr. Julie Gerberding

I have met Dr Gerberding a half dozen times.
She is an excellent example of a servant leader.
I will miss her.
I wish her luck in her new pursuits.

Thank you Dr. Gerberding.

Godzilla Lives!

Godzilla - King of all Monsters - lives!

He rises from the sea floor and seeks terror. With his glowing back and radioactive flames he torches his foes. He crumbles buildings and crushes trains with one swoop of his arms and slashing tail.

Godzilla rules. Godzilla is King!

Okay it really isn't Godzilla. Olivia is walking. She claps her hands and laughs. She is into everything. Nothing is safe. And is she fast!

Last night she pulled a flower pot off the window ledge and smash. (Poor Violet.)

Time to make the house Olivia proof.

Do-Si-Dos, Thin Mints, and Samoa Oh My!

I was sitting at my desk when Sydney (my 5 year old granddaughter) came you to me and said;
"Excuse me Sir, would like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?"
How do I say No?

Maudlin

maudlin maud·lin
Pronunciation: \ˈmȯd-lən\
Function: adjective
Etymology: alteration of Mary Magdalene; from her depiction as a weeping penitent
Date: 1509
1 : drunk enough to be emotionally silly
2 : weakly and effusively sentimental

Okay my last post was maudlin.
I am over it now.

My father once told me that a church congrgation was not a true family until they have a birth, marriage, and a funeral all on the same weekend.

It is hard sometimes to feel the joy and love of a season or people when you also are experiencing saddnes and loss from another event. I guess the ability to handle emotions and give each its appropriate time and attention is what makes a person whole. Life is complicated but it does move forward; never going back. Life is a succesion of events but all of which should lead us to joy and happiness.

Finding the joy and happiness in sad events is not always easy. I know that it is my belief and faith of an existamnce beyond the grave that allows me to see the joy. We will know each other in heaven. We will see, hear, touch, and love as we do here on Earth.

PS - Thank you Collin. (Collin is a five year old friend that expressed his desire to be able to see and touch his mother in heaven. Never under estimate the wisdom of a child.)

Psalms 82:6 ...all of you are children of the most High.

Improve The Shining Moments

Improve the shining moments;
Don’t let them pass you by.
Work while the sun is radiant;
Work, for the night draws nigh.
We cannot bid the sunbeams
To lengthen out their stay,
Nor can we ask the shadow
To ever stay away.

Time flies on wings of lightning;
We cannot call it back.
It comes, then passes forward
Along its onward track.
And if we are not mindful,
The chance will fade away,
For life is quick in passing.
’Tis as a single day.

As wintertime doth follow
The pleasant summer days,
So may our joys all vanish
And pass far from our gaze.
Then should we not endeavor
Each day some point to gain,
That we may here be useful
And ev’ry wrong disdain?

Improve each shining moment.
In this you are secure,
For promptness bringeth safety
And blessings rich and pure.
Let prudence guide your actions;
Be honest in your heart;
And God will love and bless you
And help to you impart.
